Tamil Nadu minister Mariyam Pichai dies in road accident


Tamil Nadu’s Minister for environment and pollution control and minorities welfare, Minister Mariyam Pichai met a serious road accident & died near Tiruchirapalli on Monday morning.

60 years old Pichai, was traveling to Chennai, around 330 km from Tiruchi, to participate in the oath taking ceremony of the 14th legislative assembly representatives, scheduled for this afternoon.

The accident occurred near Padalur village in Perambalur district on the Tiruchi-Chennai NH. Pichai was sitting next to his driver in the car which hit a truck from behind while trying to overtake it around 7 a.m.

Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare N.R. Sivapathi, who was travelling behind the car.
